Our aim is to provide a safe, secure and caring environment for your child. Ashton House Nursery was established in 1988 and is situated in six acres of private grounds which provide an exciting place for children to play, learn and develop. Our children have lots of fun and really enjoy all the many experiences that the nursery has to offer. At Ashton House, children have the freedom to explore and can build a den, go bug hunting in the meadow, grow fruit and vegetables, ride bikes or play in the sand pit. We positively encourage all aspects of physical play - even if it is raining. We have a welly room so children can splash in the puddles and enjoy being outside in the rain. Our recent Ofsted report quotes: ‘Children's enjoyment and achievements are outstanding because the nursery is a stimulating, exciting place for all children to play, discover and develop. Children make excellent developmental progress because the environment and staff offer them optimal challenge, choice and independence'. We use aspects of the Reggio Emilia philosophy to create a child centred learning environment that fully promotes children’s development and enjoyment. Our natural environment and the use of natural resources gives the children first hand learning experiences and helps to develop their creativity and imagination. | | Children are allowed to make informed decisions about their play which gives them confidence as they are able to choose their own activities and resources. We have implemented 'Learning Journeys' books for every child which use photographs to document children's experiences, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We place great importance on the use of music and movement in our everyday routine. Children love to listen to music, sing clapping rhymes, dance and play musical instruments. Every child has the opportunity to take part in Kindermusik sessions at the Nursery which combine both music and movement. Throughout the Nursery we have adopted the use of Makaton sign language. Children sign during their day and especially during singing and story times. This helps to develop the children’s language skills. The Nursery is open from 8am until 6pm. Early starts are available from 7.30am and late pick ups until 7pm if booked in advance. The Nursery has achieved the highest rating for food hygiene and healthy eating, gaining a Platinum Eat Well award. We have also gained our Investors in People award.
Our pre-school has been awarded the Effective Early Learning Programme kitemark and also the Investors in Children award. We are a member of The National Day Nursery Association and Kids Club Network. A copy of all of our Policies and Procedures is available within the nursery. |
