For the last eight years, Ashton House Nursery has run Kindermusik programmes for parents and their children to enjoy together, for ages from birth to five years old. Our programmes are developed and led by Heather Littler, our qualified Kindermusik educator.

Kindermusik is great fun for you and your child and includes songs, instruments, and musical actions. Kindermusik has a number of special qualities. It allows you and your child to share together the magic moments that come from music and movement and enables you to help with your child’s development. The Kindermusik curriculum is led by the latest research, using specialists in music, movement, and literacy. The programmes are designed specifically for the age of your child, therefore you and your child will gain most from an appropriate set of activities and musical instruments. 

The programmes are as follows:

Ages newborn to 1½ years

Kindermusik Village seeks to nurture the bond between you and your child through interactive movement and musical play. All your baby’s senses are stimulated through creative movement, vocal play, object and instrument exploration and colourful literature. Kindermusik Village programmes run over a course of 10 weeks, with one class per week. All classes last for 45 minutes.

Ages 1½ to 3 years

At Kindermusik Our Time children and parents enjoy singing, moving, listening, social interaction and playing simple instruments. Children’s language skills are developed through singing and rhyming and social skills are encouraged from listening and turn taking. Creative movement to musical “moods” develops children’s balance, timing and spatial awareness. Kindermusik Our Time programmes run over a course of 15 weeks, with one class per week. All classes last for 45 minutes.

Ages 3 to 5 years

The Music Box programme is specifically designed for pre-school children. Classes are offered to children enrolled onto day care at Ashton House Nursery and parents do not participate in the classes. Music Box helps to prepare your child for primary school by establishing listening and attention skills, self confidence and reading readiness. Music Box programmes run over a course of 10 weeks, with one class per week. All classes last for 30 minutes.

Free Taster sessions:
In order to give you the opportunity to see what Kindermusik is really about, we offer free taster sessions which last for 45 minutes.
